Avon Travel Basketball offers the opportunity for Avon Boys and Girls in the 5th through 8th grades to play at a level which encourages growth as an individual and as a team.
Thank you again for your interest in Avon Boys Travel Basketball. Every year we are impressed with the energy and excitement the boys show during open gym and tryouts. This year we had a great turnout at tryouts, which means some boys were unfortunately not selected for a team. We highly encourage these boys to explore alternative options like Avon Recreation as a way to continue to learn this great game. There are many great stories in the ABTBA history where boys were not initially selected to play and ended up being strong contributors by their 8th great year.
Please find the results from this past week's tryouts below. As a reminder, the tryouts are done by independent evaluators who volunteer their time to make this as fair a process as possible. Earlier today the coaches were notified of their selection and they are also denoted below.
Congratulations to those boys who were selected to the teams below:
St. Onge, Ryan
Shannon St. Onge
All questions should be directed to ABTBA President Jeff Flaks @ email@example.com.
Parents - Thank you again for your interest in Avon Girls Travel Basketball. We were so impressed with the energy and enthusiasm that the girls showed throughout the tryout process. For those girls not selected to a team, we highly encourage these girls to explore alternative options like Avon Recreation and continue to play and learn the game.

Avon Boys Travel Basketball Association (“ABTBA”) promotes and supports competitive boy’s basketball teams to enhance and improve players’ skills fostering a positive environment of sportsmanship and teamwork. ABTBA offers the opportunity for Avon Boys in the 5th through 8th grades to play at a level which encourages growth as an individual and as a team.
Up to two teams of typically 10 to 12 players in each grade may be selected. Each grade will field one team to play in the Connecticut Boys Travel Basketball League (CBTBL) a highly competitive league composed of larger towns largely in the Greater Hartford area. A second team at the 6th, 7th and/or 8th grade level may be selected when turnout and ability allows. This team will play in the NCC Travel Basketball League (NCC) which provides strong competition from smaller towns in a similar region. Criteria for player selection will include, but not be limited to: athleticism, skill, attitude, commitment and the need for team balance.
Tryouts and open gyms will be held at Thompson Brook School (TBS) at the dates/times listed below. Only players trying out and raters will be allowed in the gym for tryouts.
